Bow Has Found Her Arrow
Katydid of Applecreek 2005 - 2021
By Becky Christiansen
Katydid of Applecreek or “Bow" crossed over the Rainbow Bridge 7 March 2021, three weeks shy of her 16th birthday. She was the best dog in the world—my Heart Dog!
I was so fortunate to take her on after the untimely death of her owner, Nancy Farnsworth. Nancy had a stable of Entles at her home when she died. Of the six, Bow and Heddy each had a litter of newborns.
At that time, my old Entle girl Arrow was no longer the watch dog I needed because of her age-related deafness, a cataract in one eye, and the loss of the other eye from too many run-ins with shrubbery. I called Carol Clarke and Sarah Puckitt who were in charge of finding new homes for Nancy’s dogs to see if one might work for me. They gave me Bow, with the understanding that I wait until all seven of her puppies had gone to their new homes.
Well, it was a match made in heaven! Bow had always been in a pack of Entles and had never had her own person until we teamed up. She instantly became my “Velcro dog,” always at my side.
Bow lived with me for nearly 11 years. Five years of that we were a social therapy team at Kaiser Hospital in Santa Rosa, CA with Paws for Healing. Other than being a ball fanatic and always happy to join in a game, she was so calm and well mannered, a joy to be around. She was always welcomed into friends’ homes, as well as the stores in town. She was very popular at the hospital, cheering up doctors, nurses, and staff, especially during the firestorm aftermath of 2017.
She was a good partner to Arrow. She was also grandam to Flexi and great-grandam to Flexi’s six Litter E puppies, born December 11, 2020. Flexi misses Bow as much as I. And now, Bow has found her Arrow.
